Anyone can call themselves a cable factory, but real manufacturing strength shows up in specific, checkable places: certifications, test records, specification sheets, customization capability and the way a supplier handles small orders. This guide walks through seven checks that reveal a cable factory's genuine capabilities — using our own production as a worked example, so you know exactly what to ask for from any supplier.
1. Start with certifications, not promises
Certifications are the fastest way to separate a serious factory from a reseller. They are issued by accredited bodies, tied to specific product lines, and verifiable. For cable products, the documents that matter most are CE/EMC (EN 55032) covering electromagnetic compatibility for HDMI, USB, network and audio cables; CE/LVD (EN IEC 62368-1) covering electrical safety for power adapters; RoHS compliance across all product lines; and plug reports for power cords — for example, the EU plug report that accompanies our EU plug-C13 desktop power cord. When a supplier says "certified", ask to see the certificate and confirm it names the exact product line you are buying. A real factory can produce these documents on the spot.

2. Ask how products are tested
Certifications cover design compliance; testing covers every single unit that ships. The strongest signal of factory discipline is a stated test process. Our lines are 100% continuity tested and aged tested before shipment — meaning every cable is checked for electrical continuity and run through an aging test to catch early failures. Ask your supplier: what tests do you run, and on what percentage of units? "We test samples" is not the same as "we test everything".
3. Demand transparent specifications
A factory with real control over production can state exact specifications, because it chooses the raw materials. 4. Verify OEM/ODM capability with concrete options
Factory strength is also customization strength. A genuine manufacturer can change length, connector, color, logo and packaging — not just sell stock items. This is the most practical check of all. A factory that genuinely manufactures will usually accept small trial orders to win the account. If a supplier refuses any order below a full pallet, you are probably talking to a trading intermediary rather than a manufacturer.
6. Look for depth of experience
Manufacturing experience shows up in product maturity. Do they flag certification documents without prompting? Response speed matters because it predicts how the relationship will feel during production.
